About
Approved by humans.
Safe for humansis a free reference for the additives, preservatives, and other ingredients that show up on food labels. Type any product name and we’ll show you what’s in it — and which of those ingredients have been flagged by independent authorities.
Each ingredient is checked against three sources: the EU additive register (additives banned or requiring warning labels in Europe), the Whole Foods banned list (ingredients prohibited from their stores), and the EWG Dirty Dozen (a curated list of additives the Environmental Working Group flags for concern).
Product data comes from Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, and NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database — more than 4.5M items combined. Ingredient verdicts cite the original regulatory or scientific source so you can read it for yourself.
This site is not medical or dietary advice. It’s a quick way to see what’s on a label without having to look up every E-number.
